Hello!

We are looking for a housemate to join us in our beautiful and unique home in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Woodside.

The Room:
The room available is the main bedroom of the house, a loft space on the second floor with its own bathroom, a huge (not kidding it’s very large) shower, two sinks (ok I’ll admit one doesn’t actually work), and lovely forest views.

See attached photos for details but one key point is that the room is open to the main area of the house (it’s a loft). Previous housemate installed curtains and didn’t mind, but it may be difficult if you are a very light sleeper or prefer more privacy.

Other House Deets:
• $1200 per month, month to month lease. Ok with a short term or summer lease. Does not include the cost of electric, water or propane.
• House is surrounded by redwood forest and miles of preserved land. Irises, trillium, and forget-me-nots flowers are all currently blooming and we receive regular visitors in the form of jays, deer and banana slugs.
• Cozy living room with two couches and a fully supplied kitchen. Great (and frequented) space for jamming and music.
• We often share or split staple foods like oatmeal or oil.
• 20-30 minutes driving to Stanford/Palo Alto. 45 minutes biking to Stanford but a bit longer on the way back… 40-50 minutes driving to downtown SF. 3 housemates work at Stanford/SLAC so carpooling may be possible depending on where you work and your hours.
• 15 minutes driving to Woodside or Sky Londa, which both have (small-ish) grocery stores and restaurants.
• 20-ish minutes to Half Moon Bay depending on traffic and the nice weather
• Lots of outside deck space (3) for forest bathing.
• Fenced in garden and abundant foraging opportunities.
• Wood burning stove for excellent vibes and heat on colder nights.
• 2 ceiling fans for circulating warmer weather

About Us:
Liat - I work at Stanford studying algae and enjoy arts projects, cooking and yoga when at home!

Murray - I’m Liat’s other half, also working at Stanford! We moved from Scotland last year to spend a couple of years over here on postdoc jobs. I love all forms of climbing, but we are living in trail running and biking heaven so I’ve been getting distracted recently.

Alyssa - I work at the nearby elementary school- Kings Mountain Elementary and on-site after-care center (Venture Free Foundation). In my spare time, I like to read, hike, hangout at local breweries (and pet the cute dogs there), and have grand ideas of actually using my road bike for more than being on the rear bicycle trainer!

James - I like to trail run, climb, quit my job to hike long distances, play drums in a psych rock band and read. In my free time I work at SLAC National Laboratory.

The (many) pros:
• Backyard access to 100’s of miles of trails through Huddart Park, Purisima Preserve, Wunderlich Park, and Corte de Madera Preserve. If you like to trail run, hike, mountain bike, road bike or just be outside this house is as good as it gets in the Bay.
• 10 miles on beautiful Tunitas Creek Road to the ocean, surfing, and beaches.
• Quiet and peaceful as you can imagine – on a clear night you can see lots of stars.
• Lots of natural light, very cool house if you like architecture.
• Open, two level living/dining area that is great for hosting parties and even shows if you are musically inclined.
• Friendly neighbors that frequently lend tools/assistance.
• Fun housemates!

Some potential cons for your consideration:
• Ok internet, mediocre cell service. Fine for browsing, reading, sending emails, etc but if you are full time work from home on Zoom all day or like to stream 8k movies may not be ideal.
• Remote. Possible to get by sharing a car, but no car would be difficult unless you work remote, on the mountain, or can rely on a non guaranteed carpool to Stanford. 2k downhill to the nearest real grocery store.
• There was a treehouse but it fell over and rolled off a hill! Quite spectacular, but now no treehouse.

About you: ???
If you made it this far and are interested in living here, send us an email with some basic details about yourself, how you like to spend your time and ways you think you could make the house awesome!
