Hi, my name is James and I’m a fourth year PhD student in Japanese literature at Stanford. I’m looking for a roommate (or roommates) to share the burden of the Bay Area’s obscene rent prices for at least the next year. I’m currently open to living in either Palo Alto or San Francisco. My ideal range for rent is somewhere in the area of under $1800 per person (preference for the sub-$1500 range). I'm currently open to joining someone as a roommate or searching for a 2-bedroom+ together!

One key factor is that I’ll have my two-year-old golden retriever named Finnegan with me about half the time, so being okay with (or, preferably, loving) dogs is important! He's my ESA so he generally can't be denied even from housing that does not allow dogs. I’ve attached a photo of me and Finny below for reference (he’s around 60 pounds, very loving, and sometimes annoying). I also have a bunch of pretty nice furniture, beautiful books (imo), a 65-inch TV, and essentially a lifetime supply of uncommon whiskies (long story lol) that I’m more than willing to share with potential roommates! I’m involved in the Stanford skateboard club, want to get back into snowboarding this winter, watch too much football, basketball, baseball, like to write, paint (I also have paints!), and I occasionally go golfing. I’m pretty laid back and generally don’t go out much, but I’m down for the occasional excursion. Especially if food is involved!

I’m pretty much looking for a roommate who is moderately respectful of things/space, and who likes golden retrievers haha! Also, a place with a small yard would be best for me. Let me know if you’d be interested in looking for a place together/if you know anyone else who may be interested/might have an opening in a place you're already at. Happy to meet up at some point to chat too!

Ideal move in date is between August 15th and September 1st!

James
