Hi there,
Greetings!
I am a visiting researcher at Stanford and staying for a few months.
I just wanted to reach out to seek your help. May I consult with your expertise about the following headache problem I am facing:
I have been using my laptop heavily. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting increasingly cranky, especially after installing several antivirus and security applications required by Stanford. Now I am experiencing CPU often running at 100%, and memory usage hovering around 90%. And the harddisk is also cranky now. Consequently, I've found myself having to restart the machine multiple times a day, which is not only time-consuming but also disruptive to my workflow.
Given these challenges, could anybody please point me to where some departments happen to have a used/old/retired PC they need to get rid of? Maybe I could borrow for a couple of months? I assure you that I will take excellent care of the equipment and ensure that it remains in good condition during the time I have it. When I return it, it will be in the same state as when I received it.
Moreover, if borrowing is not feasible, I could also pay for it. I just thought that reusing these PCs instead of purchasing new ones aligns with our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Recycling these resources seems to be a green approach, especially for my visiting/stay scenario. :=)
Could you please kindly help me?
Thanks a lot and have a great week ahead!
