I am graduating from Stanford Law School in a few weeks and have a one-year clerkship in LA. I will be commuting using public transportation, but the train station is a couple miles away from where I will be living. I am looking to rent or purchase a car to use over the course of a year to drive to the train station each morning and back at night. I would not put many miles on the car, other than driving down to LA once and maybe back up to SF to return.

I am looking for a car that is cheap but reliable and in decent condition. If purchasing the car, I can spend up to $6,000. However, the ideal scenario would be someone going away for a year that is willing to rent me their car for the year for about $3,000. I will be returning to the Bay Area in August 2026.

I do not want messages from people selling their cars for more than $6,000 or rentals for more than $3,000 for the year or $250/month.
