Featuring Trio Misterio
Charles Gorczynski is a Minneapolis-based composer and bandoneonist leading the Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet and Redwood Tango Ensemble. As artistic director of the Twin Cities Tango Collective, he advances community engagement through large ensembles and education. His work—including collaborations with symphonies and international tango groups—has earned a Latin Grammy nomination. He also runs Caverns, a studio dedicated to innovative tango recordings.
Sascha Jacobsen, a 2022 Latin Grammy nominee and USC graduate, has performed with Kronos Quartet, Rita Moreno, Hugh Jackman, and tango legends like Raul Jaurena. Founder of the Musical Art Quintet, his compositions have been described as “stylish and vigorous” (Strad Magazine). A leader in the Classical Revolution movement, Sascha has appeared with symphonies, on Broadway, and on international tango tours. He is also a prolific composer, arranger, and educator.
Scott O’Day is an Oakland-based guitarist and arranger deeply embedded in the contemporary tango scene. He directs the acclaimed Scott O’Day Tango Trio and frequently performs around the globe. As director of the San Francisco Community Music Center Tango Ensemble, he nurtures emerging talent and serves as a catalyst for the Bay Area’s vibrant tango music community.
