Location: Newark, CA
Schedule: Shift/Days – On-site, R&D
Employment Type: Full/part
About the Role
We are seeking a Process Technician / Equipment Operator to support advanced carbon nanotube (CNT) research and thin-film deposition in our semiconductor R&D lab. The position is focused on operating PECVD deposition equipment for experimental CNT growth and process development.
You will work closely with a Senior Process Engineer, executing experimental runs, maintaining process logs, and assisting with troubleshooting. This is a hands-on role in a collaborative R&D environment contributing directly to next-generation device development.
Responsibilities
• Operate PECVD systems to run CNT growth and thin-film deposition experiments.
• Collaborate with the Senior Process Engineer to carry out recipes, adjust parameters, and execute research plans.
• Prepare substrates and samples for processing and analysis.
• Document process conditions and results, maintaining accurate records for engineering review.
• Assist with troubleshooting and routine maintenance under engineering guidance.
• Adhere to cleanroom and plasma/gas safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications
• Hands-on experience operating PECVD equipment in semiconductor, nanomaterials, or R&D environments.
• Background in carbon nanotube growth (academic or industry) is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with thin-film deposition, vacuum systems, and plasma processes.
• Strong attention to detail, safety, and documentation.
• AS/BS in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field preferred; equivalent lab experience considered.
Nice to Have
• Experience with SEM or other materials characterization tools (optical microscopy, Raman, AFM).
• Prior collaboration with engineering teams in an R&D lab.
• Experience troubleshooting plasma or deposition equipment.
