- The cost of the room is only $1100 per month including utilities (except for Wifi). All the housemates split the Wifi cost, and it usually comes out to $7-$12 per month. We also split the cost of cleaning supplies, which usually comes out to about $6/month.
- The address is 233 Embarcadero Rd, about a 10 minute bike ride from campus. It’s close enough that some of my friends have walked from campus to the house, but I would recommend owning a bike/car if you live here.
- The house is a 16-person property. All of the housemates are academics, and 14 of them are Stanford affiliates. The majority of the housemates are from other countries because the landlord tries to maintain a community of international scholars. The landlord also tries to maintain a 50:50 gender ratio.
- You would have a private bedroom and a shared bathroom. There’s a communal bathroom on each floor of the house, and several people have their own bathroom. Since there are several communal bathrooms in the house, I’ve never had to wait to use a bathroom.
- The room is located on the second floor. The room itself is quiet because it is decently far from the living room / kitchen.
- There is a communal laundry room with a washer and dryer in the basement. There's also a communal kitchen and a communal yard.
- This house has an incredible community of individuals. We have game nights, BBQs, and outings together. Of course, these events are optional; you can choose whether to attend different house events.
- There is a preference for individuals who can move in some time between November 8 - November 15. You can stay for as long as you’d like.
- The room comes with a bed, a desk, a dresser, a closet, and a bayview window overlooking the yard.
- I am the currently resident of the room. If you have any questions or want to schedule a visit, you can email the landlord, John, directly at hackmann@stanfordalumni.org or you can text him at +1 (650) 387-9447. To apply for the room, you can send your CV to John, and you can secure the room by sending John an $1100 deposit.
