This breaks our hearts to write, but we are desperately looking for a new home for our 6-year-old male orange American Shorthair, Simon. He is one of the sweetest, funniest cats you will ever meet. He has been a beloved part of our family for 5 years.
However, after having a baby this summer, we simply cannot give him the attention, affection, and time he deserves. We still care for him (feeding him, keeping him clean) but we can see how lonely and depressed he’s become without the love and interaction he used to get. He has even begun biting at his tail from stress. It’s devastating to watch, and we know we’re no longer the home that’s best for him.
We are looking for someone who can give Simon the affection and companionship we can’t right now. We will give $500 in cash to whoever can take him into a loving, attentive home. We will also provide:
-Lots of food
-All his toys
-His litter box
-His bed and sleeping setup
-Anything else of his that will make him (and you!) comfortable
Simon has never lived with another cat, so he would likely do best as the only pet, or with someone experienced in gentle introductions.
This is an extremely painful decision for us. We love him, and it hurts to let him go, but keeping him in a situation where he’s sad and understimulated would be even worse.
