Hi all!
We are looking for a roommate to fill a vacancy in our lovely Mountain View apartment! The current occupants are Rae (they/them; 27yo graduate student in Stanford biochemistry) and Feona (they/them; 25 y/o data analyst working in civic tech). More details about the apartment are below, and if you have any questions or are interested, please contact us at rrbrown@stanford.edu and we can chat :-)
Move-in date: flexible throughout January. Preferably January 15th-31st
Rent: $946.5/mo + utilities/internet/electricity (about $100/mo)
Apartment photos: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1E33U_5sUWXhq_U9NIxznPnf-Fd-ku54F3zqo-VAyTYM/edit?usp=sharing
The apartment:
Palmetto Apartments on California St in Mountain View
$3155/month for a 3bed 2bath - Rae is in the master bedroom with private bathroom, so they will pay more in rent (split 40:30:30). You’ll pay $946.5/mo for 1 bedroom and a shared bathroom (a very affordable price in the bay area!!). The bathroom will be shared with Feona. Utilities/electric/internet usually come to $100ish per month. Rent is protected by rent control.
The whole apartment complex was painted, and new walkways and landscaping were installed two months ago. The landlord is very responsive. Both the dishwasher and stove were replaced within the last year. This unit is on the second floor with no upstairs neighbors.
30-40min bike ride and 20-25min drive from Stanford. Also within walking distance of the San Antonio Caltrain stop and the 21, 22, and 40 bus stops. Rae bikes to Stanford every day for their commute, and it’s lovely!
Walking distance to the San Antonio shopping complex (Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Safeway, Target, Whole Foods) - 5-10min walk
2 blocks from Rengstorff park (lovely park - lots of open space, tennis courts, new swimming center opening soon, etc)
Walking/biking distance from downtown MV - 20min walk or 5min bike ride
There are two parking spots that come with the apartment, and the two of us have cars. In the past, we’ve worked out a parking spot rotation, which we can do again if you are bringing a car.
Swimming pool & grills in the apartment complex; shared laundry
A fairly quiet apartment complex with a mix of families, students, people who work for google/tech nearby, etc. Peaceful neighborhood, and nice for running/biking/walking!
Your potential future roommates ! :
Rae:
I’m in the sixth year of my PhD in the biochem dept, and would love roommates who are down to hang out occasionally :-) Always down to walk someplace nearby for bubble tea, co-work at a cafe (Red Rock on Castro St is my favorite), watch a movie, etc! I also value quiet time and don’t need to talk/socialize 24/7.
I’m fairly quiet and clean, and keep a regular schedule (I work ~7:30am-4:30pm most days, and will always be sure to be quiet in the mornings so I don’t wake non-morning people). The loudest I’ll ever be is when I practice clarinet, but I keep that to non-quiet hours. I would prefer roomies who are similarly neat, clean, and quiet!
Tbh, my only stipulations for a roommate are no smoking/drugs and please be somewhat clean and quiet :~) I’m not a big party person and love going to bed at 8:30pm, so if you love partying we may not mesh well.
Feona:
I work remotely for a civic tech organization! I try to work out of the apartment when I can, so I’m not always around during the day.
Similar to Rae, I value having quiet time to myself but am also down to chat! You’ll either find me in the living room playing video games or keeping to myself in my room :)
You’ll be sharing a bathroom with me, so my main ask is that you’re willing to communicate and make a plan around splitting bathroom-cleaning duties. In the past, the previous roomie and I would each clean once a month, meaning the bathroom got cleaned once every other week. I’d love to keep up a schedule like that and figure out a plan that works for both of us!
Best,
Rae & Feona
