Center for Integrated Facilities Engineering (CIFE), Stanford
- Position available
Part Time: Developer of a computer prototype for a method to generate construction work instructions based on information contained in 3D and process models.
- Position details
Candidate can be undergraduate or master student in Computer Science or CIvil Engineering, available to start this autumn.
Qualifications include programming knowledge (experience is a plus) in VB, VBA or C#, and desirable knowledge of MS Visio and AutoCAD.
The job is to develop a computer prototype that will probably be coded in VB, VBA, C# or a mix of them.
The prototype will automate a method to generate work instructions based on information that is contained in 3D and process models. The 3D models are built on AutoCAD (ADT) 2006. The process models are built on MS Visio.
The programmer will work with a PhD candidate from CIFE who developed the method to generate work instructions, and a staff research programmer who will guide and support the development process.
The job is for 4 months of 20-hour weeks. At the end of this period we expect to have a software that can produce at least 3 different work instructions based on the activities selected by the user (3 activities as well since there is a one-to-one relationship) and the 3D and process models.
