We are currently recruiting participants for a study on

facilitating learning using various search and annotation tools (including two

conditions involving a novel software prototype). The focus is on free-style

learning about a specific new area of technology. Participants will

spend most of their time learning about this area on their own and making

annotations as they choose, using either familiar tools (e.g., Google, Word) or

something new. There'll also be some testing to assess learning strategies

and probe how effective the tools they used were in facilitating learning.

Completing the study requires participation in two sessions. The

first session lasts about 4 hours (including breaks). The second session lasts

only 1 hour but must be done one week after the first. Study sessions will

be held in the ISL lab at PARC, which is very close to the Stanford Campus

(3333 Coyote Hill Road, Palo Alto; see www.parc.com).

Payment is $120.00 on the completion of the study. Plus a free lunch. :-)

For those interested, this could also be one way to learn about some work

going on at PARC while earning some cash and helping us out a great deal.

If interested, please contact me at the email address given

above. Please feel free to forward this message.

Thanks much.
