Stanford University and the Palo Alto VA are seeking healthy adults without sleep problems between
the ages of 18 and 35 for a research study investigating the use of bright light to improve nighttime
alertness and to change the timing of the circadian clock. The study involves two weeks of at-home
sleep monitoring followed by one 2-day/night stay at the Palo Alto VA Sleep Lab. At-home sleep
monitoring includes wearing a sleep actiwatch and filling out sleep logs. In-lab time includes wearing
safe, non-invasive skin sensors on the head and torso to measure brain activity and the collecting of
saliva samples. Compensation for completion of the study is $250. Participants must be a U.S. Citizen or
have a valid green card for payment. Additionally, participants must live within 15 miles of the Palo Alto VA Hospital.
