PharmGKB is seeking a java developer to work on a natural language processing (NLP) research tool for annotating research journal articles and integrating it into our curators' workflow.

This position requires a mix of back-end data-mining experience with front-end web UI design competency. A deep understanding of Lucene and working with large datasets is absolutely critical. The developer will be extending software and data created by NLP researchers and integrating it into the current PharmGKB codebase to give it practical usage. The developer will also be working closely with curators and and other developers to build a tool that enhances the features and general usefulness of the current text annotation pipeline.

This is a contract position for at least 30 hours/week that will end by September, 2011. The developer is expected to work on-site in Palo Alto, California.
