We are developing a secure reputation system. It can be used to help projects or companies reward contributors, or to allow people to post ratings of each others’ achievements onto social networks. Our "open company" is run like an open source project. Contributors can join the project, work on whatever they want, and get a share of profits proportional to their contribution. We are promoting a new, freer way to work.
The core of our system is a collusion-resistant algorithm that takes peer evaluations and produces a reputation score for each person. The scores can be used to:
* make decisions in which the most respected people have the most weight
* pay people proportional to their reputation. Companies can use this for bonus payments or to distribute equity. Community-driven websites can share ad revenue.
* use reputation itself as a form of compensation (in the style of Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom)
We're looking for cofounders and contributors. Part-timers and summer interns welcome. We'd love to be your side project! Code will be released under a CC-SA-NC-like license at launch, then AGPL after 2 years. Great opportunity to learn Python and Google App Engine. Founding team includes Stanford SymSys/Math alum. Web devs, HCI, lawyers, business people needed. See http://www.pietrust.com/static/recruitFlyerStanford.pdf for an image of a mockup of our product.
