The New Groove Quintet (alto, tenor, piano, bass, drums) is a group of current Stanford graduate students. Our drummer recently graduated and is headed off to the East Coast, so we are looking for a new one. We have been playing together for about 3 years - we were originally put together by the Stanford Jazz Workshop, and rehearsed last year in the Thursday at 6 pm time slot. We play mostly straight-ahead jazz, including a number of original compositions and our own arrangements of classic tunes. We play paying gigs in the area about once every 4-6 weeks - mostly campus fundraisers, conference banquets, etc. but also sometimes at bars and private parties - plus we just booked a regular monthly gig at the BBC in Menlo Park.
